XED asked:

I was thinking about calcium and magnesium supplements in addition to my dha and prenatal vitamin. Is this dangerous for baby?

I would also suggest kellymom.com
I am currently breastfeeding and take a prenatal and additional calcium and magnesium.

The magnesium I would call and check with the pediatrician. A little extra calcium probably wouldn’t hurt, but I would check with the pediatrician just in case while you’re calling about the magnesium.

There’s a great website I found, BTW, called, that gives you the FDA ratings and whether the drug goes through breastmilk. Doesn’t replace the doctor by any means but at least it gives you an idea whether it’s worth calling about.

Ask you Doctor

while breastfeeding you should continue taking prenatal vitiamens but that is all. prenatal vitamins have a boosted vitiamens in them to start with so taking more could give you a overload of stuff. Some can be very dangerous such as iron and potassiam.

You want to continue your prenatal vitamin and DHA supplements are ok to take also(RX prenatal vitamins come with DHA supplements sometimes). If you were taking iron supplements during your pregnancy you should continue with those also(until you are checked for anemia again). Anything else I would talk to a doctor about just to make sure it’s ok.
